Vienna, Austria, 12 – 15 September 2023

The dsm-firmenich Global Aqua Days gathered more than 100 customers from around the world, and across the aquaculture species to share how dsm-firmenich is driving innovations and science-based solutions that address the key challenges to enable the growth of sustainable aquaculture and in feeding a growing population.

Health & Welfare, Feed & Food Quality, Feed Cost and Sustainable Feed were the hot topics addressed over various plenary and discussion forums throughout the three days in Vienna. After the official welcome and introduction to dsm-firmenich by Ivo Lansbergen, President, Animal Nutrition and Health, participants took a closer look at aquaculture from the consumer perspective. Joao Brites, Director of growth and innovation, at HowGood, spoke about the growing demand from consumers for sustainability in their food baskets.

Participants also visited the various “Solution Stations” outside of the plenary and met with dsm-firmenich experts. Commenting on the event from the “Sustainable Feed Solution Station”, Louise Buttle, Sustell™ Lead for Aqua & Global Key Account Manager at dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health said, “It was great to have the opportunity to meet our customers and share live demonstrations of Sustell™, showcasing the Aqua specific modules. Hot off the press was news of the long- term partnership with Grupo Almar, and we are very excited to be working actively in the development of the shrimp module with this leading company from Ecuador.”

Louise continued, “Novel ingredients such as Veramaris® and dsm-firmenich’s single cell protein innovation, Smart Protein, were also featured on the Sustainable Feed Station – with a couple of quizzes to test our customers’ skills in sample recognition and omega 3 science!”
