Sustell™ and sustainability improvements for dairy production at 14º Fórum MilkPoint Mercado

Brazil, March 16, 2023

Participating at the 14º Fórum MilkPoint Mercado, the Sustell™ team led by Fernanda Marcantonatos Nogueira, Sustainability Business Development Senior Manager, Ruminants for Latin America at dsm-firmenich, outlined her 3-point strategy for improving the sustainability of dairy production: 1. Definition, 2. Measurement, 3. Footprint Reduction.

1. Definition of sustainability goals: how sustainability is shaping business and the increased market value for sustainable products.

2. Environmental impact measurement and management: The importance of accurate and validated measurement of the environmental footprint – you cannot improve what you don’t measure.

3. Environmental impact reduction: interventions that reduce the carbon footprint of 1 liter of milk and the bigger effect that methane reduction in dairy has for countering climate change.

Commenting on the event and interactions with participants, Fernanda stated “It was inspiring to share strategies with industry partners that deliver tangible results in the sustainability of dairy production. While we all agreed that there is scope and momentum for reducing emissions, the audience was interested by how Sustell™ now enables us to accurately measure environmental footprints and simulate interventions for impact reductions resulting in real improvement that is internationally validated.”
