UFRGS’ Agricultural Sciences Department hosted a Presentation on Sustainability in Animal Protein Production

Brazil’s leading Agricultural Sciences department, a part of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) hosted a presentation by Carlos Saviani, Global Sustainability Lead for DSM Precision Services on improving the sustainability of animal protein production. The event, a Seminar in its 13th edition and organized by Dr Sérgio Vieira, an expert in Poultry Production, Research and Strategic Development and fellow Professors of the department, brings together academia with the private sector to discuss important issues for the sector. This year´s edition included an in depth look at environmental sustainability and how solutions like Sustell™ are already helping producers and animal protein companies measure and improve their environmental footprint.

Carlos led an engaging presentation and Q&A forum with graduate students and professors on the importance of environmental sustainability and how we can help measure and improve the environmental footprint of animal protein production, especially with a focus on feed and animal farming.

“It was inspiring to meet and discuss sustainability in animal protein and the role that current and future players in the animal protein industry can play in measuring and reducing the environmental impact in this important industry”, said Carlos Saviani. “We also discussed how Sustell™ can be accessed free of charge by academic institutions to further their research and together develop best practices in our industry as we strive to improve the sustainability of animal protein production.” concluded Carlos.
