Updated poultry footprinting now available in Sustell™

dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health has recently updated the poultry footprinting capabilities of its industry-leading life cycle assessment (LCA) platform, Sustell™, enhancing its relevance for poultry integrators, turkey producers and breeding operations.

Sustell™ users now have access to footprinting and hotspot analysis for turkeys as well as for breeding and hatchery stages.

The latest Sustell™ update enhances the previously available broiler and layer modules, bringing the methodology into line with the most recent IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) calculations.

Thanks to these developments and Sustell™’s recent expansion to deliver environmental footprinting of meat processing, Sustell™ users can conduct full LCA reporting across all stages of poultry production from feed to farm to packing, using their own primary data at scale.

“This latest Sustell™ upgrade is highly relevant to poultry integrators who want a credible, accurate way to calculate the full environmental footprint of their operations at scale,” said David Morris, Global LCA Director at dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health. “Our clients can now quickly gain greater granularity, control and insight over their operations, not only in terms of environmental impact but also in identifying hotspots for performance improvement and scenario testing to achieve real gains,” he added.

Using primary data, Sustell™ enables animal protein value chains to accurately measure and improve the environmental impact of their activities from feed to fork at scale quickly and cost-effectively. Sustell™ offers actionable insights, satisfies the growing need of downstream partners for credible and accurate scope 3 reporting, and opens the door to sustainability-related opportunities such as financing and ecolabels.
